Monochromatic is not anything close to monotonous. Choosing just one color can be surprisingly challenging, but can also prove to be inviting and just work. It is important, however, that you choose different shades and tints of the same hue. For example, you probably wouldn't want to pair a lime green with a more mustard-y tone. That just wouldn't work!
